Glenn Sharp

Glenn Sharp is an institution in the Bowling Green Athletic Department. A native of nearby Bloomdale, "Sharpie" joined the athletic department staff in 1957, and served as the athletic equipment manager for 24 years before retiring from full-time work in 1981. He then continued to serve the department under the University's limited retirement program, working with his son, Joe, in the equipment room.
Sharpie is one of the founders of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, and has served as the president of the national association for many years. He was chosen as the Athletic Equipment Manager of the year in 1978.
Sharp designed the equipment rooms in both Memorial Hall and the Doyt Perry stadium rooms that have served as role models for many others throughout the country.
Among the many honors that Sharp has won are the Honorary Alumnus Award given annually by the BGSU Alumni Association to a deserving non-alumnus who has served the University; The Honorary Letterman's Award given annually by the Varisty BG Club to a non-letterman who has made a significant contribution to BGSU athletics; the Hollis A. Moore Service Award given by the BGSU Student Government Association; and the Varisty BG Club Special Recognition Award.
