Ivan Lake

Ivan Lake was a member of the first football squad in 1919. He was also the first letterman in BGSU Tennis history. Lake lettered two times as a cheerleader, and served as a manager for football, baseball, and basketball.
Lake went on to be a football official for 25 seasons, and was the official scorer for BGSU basketball from 1923-53. He also was the editor and publisher of the football program for over 20 years. During Lake's tenure as sports editor of the Sentinel-Tribune, he was faithful, loyal, and energetic in promoting Falcon Athletics. Ivan Lake also originated the nickname of "Falcons" for athletic teams.
Ivan Lake was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1964.
