Jeffrey Groth

Jeffrey Groth was a 1975 graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, where he earned four football letters. Groth was named to the All-MAC first team in 1978, after earning second team honors in 1976 and 1977. As a senior, he was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game in San Francisco. He held BGSU records upon the conclusion of his career for most passes caught in a career, most yards gained in a game, season, and career. Groth was named team MVP in 1978, while also lettering in baseball all four years. Groth set career records in triples, total bases, career RBI's and career stolen bases, with a career batting average of .335.
Groth was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1978, the Atlanta Braves in 1979, and the Texas Rangers in 1980. He was also drafted, and signed, by the Miami Dolphins in 1979. He found his way to New Orleans, being named Special Teams Player of the Year in 1981.
Jeffrey Groth was inducted to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.
