Martin Bayless

Bayless a 1984 BGSU graduate, was a recruited freshman walk-on out of Dayton Belmont High School in 1980. He earned a starting assignment for Coach Denny Stolz before his first collegiate game. A four-year starter he made 278 tackles and set school and MAC records with 27 interceptions (second highest in NCAA Division I history), including two in the 1982 California Bowl and an NCAA-leading 10 his senior season. Bayless capped his collegiate career by making two interceptions in the Blue-Gray Senior All-Star Game. He earned third-team AP All-American honors in 1983 and was a three-time All-MAC selection. Bayless was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989.
