Paul Miles, was possibly the best running back to play in the Mid-American Conference up to the time of his graduation in 1974.Β Miles was the career rushing leader in the MAC following his senior year andΒ totaled 3,239 yards for his career.
The Paulding, Ohio native was 10th in the nation as a sophomore with 1,185 yards rushing.Β He had 1,024 yards as a junior and 1,031 as a senior to close out a brilliant career that also included 25 touchdowns.Β Miles, who had a career average of 108 yards rushing per game, was just the third running back in NCAA history to record three seasons of better than 1,000 yards while he finished his career ninth on the NCAA's yardage list.
Miles' jersey, #29, is the only football jersey ever retired at BGSU.Β Miles also earned two letters as a member of the BGSU baseball team.Β
