Robert Zimpfer was a three-year starter at tackle in football. He was named to the All-MAC team and All-Ohio team in both 1958 and 1959. As a senior in 1959 he was selected on the Williamson All-American team and played in the North-South game in Miami. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers of the American Football League.Â
In 2019, Zimpfer was inducted into the Bowling Green Cast of Honor, for being recongizned of being the "best of the best" in football.Â
