Trailing by 10 points at the half, the Falcons couldn't keep the host Buckeyes from slowly pulling away in the second half. The result was a 30-point OSU win.
The Brown and Orange scored the first two baskets of the game, holding the hosts without a point for the first 3:39. The contest was tied three times in the early going, and BG trailed by just two points before a 9-0 OSU run gave the Bucks a 30-19 lead with under three minutes left in the half. BG was within eight before an OSU steal and layup with just two seconds left made it a 10-point contest at the break. The Falcons, who outrebounded the taller Bucks by a 21-18 margin in the first half, shot just .259 from the floor in the initial 20 minutes.
In the second stanza, OSU scored the first five points, and slowly built the lead. Sherry Kahle, who had three fouls in the first half, was whistled for her fourth foul in the first minute of the half, and was called for her fifth foul with 11:06 left in the contest. Kahle, despite playing just 19 minutes, led BG with 12 points on the afternoon.
Two other Falcon starters, Afra Smith and Francine Miller, hit double digits with 10 points apiece in the game. Kahle and Dana Western each had eight rebounds, while Miller and Jaymee Wappes had four assists apiece. Miller also had a game-high four steals.
Lauren Shenk led the Buckeyes with 17 points off the bench. Her five field goals included four three-pointers.
