Falcons Fall At Kent

The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team dropped out of first place in the Mid-American Conference East Division after dropping an 82-64 decision at Kent on Wednesday night. The Golden Flashes led for the last 32 minutes of the contest to pick up the victory.
After seven lead changes and five ties in the first seven minutes of the game, Kent took control taking the lead for good at the 12:26 mark. Kent led by as many as eight points four times in the first 20 minutes before settling for a 42-37 lead at the break.
Anthony Stacey and Len Matela kept the Falcons close in the first half scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Kent started the second half with an 8-2 run to build an 11-point advantage at the 14:46 mark by a score of 50-39. The closest Bowling Green would get in the second half was eight points at the 11:23 mark when Matela converted a lay up.
A 6-0 Kent run increased their advantage to 15 points (66-51) at the 6:35 mark and the Golden Flashes had control the rest of the way. A 21-point edge (80-59) with 2:00 left was the largest for Kent.
Stacey led the Falcons with 23 points and nine rebounds while Matela added 14 points and 11 rebounds. The loss ended Bowling Green's three-game winning streak while Kent extended its home winning streak to 13 games.
Brandon Pardon added 13 points for Bowling Green.
