Several members of the Bowling Green State University men's track squad are ranked nationally for their 1999-2000 high-school performances. The lists of the top United State high school marks were recently released by Jack Shepard, and were featured in the November issue of Track & Field News.
Paul Niedzwiecki, a native of Adrian, Mich., had the 24th-fastest time in the nation in the 3,200 meters last year. Niedzwiecki, also a member of the Falcon cross country team, ran the event in 9:07.36 as a prep.
Dean Coticchia, an Olmsted Falls, Ohio, native, tied for 12th in the country in the high jump, with a top effort of 7'0".
Lyndhurst, Ohio, native Jamal Salahuddin was listed in both the shotput and the discus. Salahudding was tied for 16th in the country with an effort of 62'9 1/2" in the shot, and his discus throw of 188'9" placed him 24th nationally.
All three student-athletes are freshman at BGSU on Sterling Martin's track team.
The lists included the top times/distances of the 1999-2000 U.S. high school track season, both indoor and outdoor.
