Falcons Advance To 6-0 In April For First Time Since 1976
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team continued their winning ways Friday night (April 10) against Central Michigan, this time coming from behind to do it. Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, the Falcons put together a rally beginning with Alex Laird reaching on a fielder's choice. Griffin Scheiderer and Carter Mottice were both hit by pitches to load the bases, setting up a two-RBI single off the bat of Lance Vickers through the left side of the infield to propel the Falcons to victory and extend their winning streak to six. BGSU is now 6-0 in April for the first time since 1976 and 6-0 to begin any month for the first time since May 2009.
At the plate, Lance Vickers led the way with a two-hit day. Vickers tallied a season-high three RBI as well as a run scored, accounting for four of BGSU's five runs in the contest. As for the mound, Ty Roder picked up his second win of the week while Titus Lotz shut down the ninth with strikeouts for the final two recorded outs, securing his second save of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lance Vickers drew a walk with one out in the bottom of the first and advanced to second on a grounder. With two outs, Brayden Curlis put a ball in play that resulted in an error, caroming off the first baseman's glove, to score Vickers for a 1-0 lead.
- TJ Takats led off the bottom of the second with a liner up the middle for a single. Griffin Scheiderer was hit by a pitch and Carter Mottice drew a walk to load the bases, setting up an RBI single to third for Vickers for a 2-0 BGSU lead.
- Central Michigan scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2, before adding one in the sixth for a 3-2 advantage.
- Anthony Mitta legged out a bunt single to start the bottom of the sixth before taking second on a sacrifice bunt and third on a grounder. A single through the left side off the bat of Alex Laird scored Mitta for a 3-3 tie.
- A solo home run for Central Michigan gave them a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Laird reached on a fielder's choice to spark a two-out rally before both Scheiderer and Mottice were hit by pitches to load the bases. A liner past the shortstop from Vickers plated both Laird and Scheiderer to put BGSU in front 5-4 and prompt a CMU pitching change.
- In the ninth, Titus Lotz entered with one out and a runner on. He tallied a pair of strikeouts to close out the game and secure his second save of the season.
