
Baseball Drops Series Finale At Missouri

The Bowling Green baseball team (3-8-1) dropped its third consecutive game at Missouri (14-8), 8-6 on Sunday.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Aric Christman led off with a double to left, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Len Elias sacrifice fly.
BG increased its lead to 4-0 with three runs in the third inning. Elias led off with a walk and moved to third on Alan Gilhousen's single to center. Sean Ryan drove in Elias with a single down the right field line. Gilhousen scored on Matt Marcum's sacrifice fly, while Nick Schmidt plated Ryan with a double down the left field line.
Missouri struck for five runs in their half of the fifth inning, all coming with two outs. The Tigers added three more runs in the sixth on a solo home run by Kurt Propst and a two-run single by Jayce Tingler.
Bowling Green scored twice in the seventh inning when Scott Dukate reached on an error with one out and advanced to second on Matt Best's pinch-hit single. Lee Morrison drove in Dukate with a double down the right field line, while Kenny Burdine's pinch-hit single scored Best.
Craig Menke started for the Falcons, in the 38-degree temperatures, and allowed five runs (two earned) in 4.2 innings. Menke surrendered four hits and struck out three, while walking five. Deryck Griffith pitched one inning giving up three earned runs on three hits and a walk. Brad Henry pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing one hit and one walk.
BG will next be in action on Wednesday when it travels to Morgantown, West Virginia to face the Mountaineers. The series has been changed to a doubleheader on Wednesday only.
