BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team, after a shutout win in last weekend's only match, will complete a four-match homestand with three contests this weekend. The Falcons of coach Jay Harris, now 6-4 in dual-match play, will open Mid-American Conference dual play Saturday (March 25) morning, with a 9:00 a.m. contest vs. Buffalo at Keefe Courts. The courts are located off Stadium Drive, directly behind the BGSU Ice Arena.
Following the UB match, the Brown and Orange will return to Keefe Courts for a Saturday afternoon match vs. Denison. That contest is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. The following day (March 26), BGSU will host Robert Morris in a dual slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons played just one match last weekend, winning by shutout. BGSU captured a 7-0 victory over visiting Wright State Friday (March 17). The contest, originally scheduled for Keefe Courts, was moved to Shadow Valley in Toledo due to the weather.
BGSU sophomore Vitek Wild was one of seven Falcons (counting an exhibition match) to win a singles contest in straight sets. Wild was victorious at the top flight, while freshman Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo won at the second level. BGSU's other singles wins, in order came from sophomores Mike Kossoff and Ed Kuresman, freshman Micael Lopez-Acevedo and junior Brandon Gabel. Freshman Peter Gardonyi won an exhibition match which did not count in the final team scoring.
The winning Falcon doubles teams included the Gabel-Wild duo at the top flight. The second-flight tandem of Kuresman and Micael Lopez-Acevedo also won, as did the third team of Kossoff and Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo.
