Three Softball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

Three Bowling Green State University student-athletes were selected to the 2000 GTE Academic All-District IV University Division Softball team as announced Thursday (May 11).
Senior Erin Zwinck (White Lake, MI) was named to the first team as a designated player. She maintains a 3.55 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Sport Management. Zwinck started 44 games during BG's regular season and batted .328 with a team-high 44 hits.
Sophomore pitcher Jessie Milosek (Brighton, MI) and junior first baseman Nikki Rouhana (Westerville, OH) were both selected to the second team. Milosek carries a 3.86 GPA in human movement science, with Rouhana maintaining a 3.33 GPA in sport management. Heading into the MAC Tournament, Milosek had compiled a 10-4 record with a 1.52 earned-run average in a team-leading 105.2 innings. She had four shutouts and combined on three others. Rouhana batted .320 in 40 starts and finished the regular season with more walks (16) than strikeouts (15).
The District IV team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or highter. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district. First-Team selections will appear on the national ballot for the GTE Academic All-America Softball Team.
Bowling Green finished the regular-season with a 30-16 overall mark and tied for the Mid-American Conference East Division title with a 13-7 league record. The Falcons (No. 2 seed for the MAC Tournament being held at Northern Illinois in DeKalb) are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Thursday (May 11) against the winner of this morning's contest between Central Michigan (No. 3 seed) and Ball State (No. 6 seed).
