HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
- Ethan Stade got the day started with a one-two-three bottom of the first, striking out the side for the Orange and Brown.
- The Falcons tallied the first run in the top of the second. Brayden Curlis dropped a single in front of the center field and advanced to second on a fielding error during the play. Anthony Mitta followed with a single into left field, scoring Curlis from second with Mitta taking second himself on an errant throw in from the outfield.
- A passed ball during the next at-bat moved Mitta up to third before a TJ Takats single into right field scored Mitta. Later in the inning, Takats stole second and moved up to third with an error on the throw down. Carter Mottice kept the single-parade rolling, knocking one to the opposite field to bring home Takats for a 3-0 lead.
- In the fourth, Pauly Mancino began the inning by reaching on an infield single before stealing second. A single through the right side of the infield by Griffin Scheiderer scored Mancino to push the advantage to 4-0.
- Stade continued a strong start, sending down the first 12 Minutemen he faced, including 10 on strikes, through the first four innings.
- A two-run home run for UMass in the bottom of the fifth put them on the board with a 4-2 score.
- The Falcons answered in the seventh. Curlis singled into right before a Mitta single through the right side put runners at the corners. A sacrifice fly into left field from Takats was enough to score Curlis and extend the BGSU lead to 5-2.
- The Minutemen added another two-run home run in the eighth inning to cut the lead down to 5-4. A two-run ninth for UMass pushed them in front for a 6-5 final score.

- The Falcons threatened in the third with runners on second and third with one out, but UMass worked out of the jam to keep the game scoreless.
- The Minutemen produced a similar scenario in the fifth, putting runners at second and third with two outs, but an Andrew Heffernan strikeout ended the frame with the score still at zeroes.
- Bowling Green worked two runners into scoring position again in the top of the seventh with two outs, but UMass found a way out of the jam.
- Both teams moved a runner into scoring position in the eighth as well, but the pitching prevailed once more, including a Jackson Miller strikeout, to keep it scoreless going into the ninth.
