
Women's Gymnastics Breaks School Record

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's gymnastics team set a new school record with an overall team score of 195.000 in a MAC dual meet with Western Michigan Saturday night in BGSU's Eppler Center. The visiting Broncos finished with a score of 191.950. BGSU is 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
The Falcons posted season-best team scores in the bars (48.725), beam (48.650) and floor (49.275). Their team total of 195.000 breaks their previous best of 194.825 established two weeks ago against Kent State and Illinois-Chicago.
FALCON HIGHLIGHTS
Junior Marny Oestreng (Trogstad, Norway) tied her season-best in the all-around with a 39.125. She was first in the vault (9.900), uneven bars (9.925), and floor exercise (9.950). Western Michigan's Christy Sassic and Sara Trudeau shared first place honors in the beam at 9.900.
Freshman Melissa Popovich (Medina) posted a career-best at 9.900 with her second place finish in the floor exercise. She also was sixth in the bars at 9.575.
Freshman Pia Sjovall (Skarer, Norway) was second in the vault at 9.850 and third in the floor at 9.850.
Sophomore Ann Marie Kassouf (Middleburg Heights) was second in the bars (9.800) and fourth in the beam (9.825).
Junior Mindy Untch (Westerville) tied Kassouf for second place with a 9.800 in the bars. Untch also finished fourth in the beam at 9.825.
Senior Amber Curry (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was third in the vault at 9.775 and sixth in the beam at 9.750.
Senior Heather Dankmyer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was fourth in the bars at 9.625 and posted the same score in the beam. Freshman Kelly Kropko (Akron) was seventh in the bars at 9.525.
Senior Cristin McClellan (Minerva) was fourth in the floor at 9.800.
Freshman Katie Carter (Rochester Hills, Mich.) was eighth in the beam at 9.625.
Senior Jamie Kent (Bloomfield, NJ) was sixth in the floor (9.775) and seventh in the vault at 9.650. Sophomore Rachel Hall (Toledo/Southview) also posted a 9.775 in the floor.
