
Ball State Upsets Bowling Green in MAC Semi-Finals, 3-2

DeKalb, Illinois - In their second five-game match of the week, Bowling Green loses thier most difficult match of the season to third seed Ball State in the semi-finals of the MAC Tournament (30-28, 22-30, 30-25, 35-37, 15-17). The match marks the sixth time Ball State has defeated the Falcons in MAC tournament play. Ball State will go on to the finals, meeting the winner of the Northern Illinois-Miami match tomorrow night at 7:00 pm CST.
The Falcons had four players in double-digit kills and five players with double-digit digs. Both Caty Rommeck and Susie Norris recorded double-doubles in their disappointing loss.
Leading Bowling Green was senior Amber Vorst, matching her career high with 17 kills. Vorst led the team with a .326 hitting percentage. She also had nine digs and three block assists to round out her career as a Falcon.
Senior Caty Rommeck and junior Kristin Gamby each had 21 kills, hitting .228 and .250 respectively. Rommeck also had six total blocks to lead the team and 10 digs. Gamby had five total blocks, including two block solos to lead the team in that category.
Senior Natalie Becker had 62 assists in the match, including a fifteen dig performance, second only to Norris. Norris knocked down 10 kills and had 18 digs on the night. Senior Kate Yeo had 12 defensive digs and a service ace in her last match in the Brown and Orange.
Also playing their final match of the season for Bowling Green was Nadia Bedricky, Laura Twyman, and Shyann Robinson.
Bowling Green hit .198 in their final match with 77 kills, while Ball State hit. 220 and had 86 kills. Bowling Green had 11 total blocks to Ball State's 14.
