Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team set a school-record by making its firt 10 three-point field goal attempts in the first half and cruised to a 107-80 victory over Defiance, Saturday afternoon in Anderson Arena. The Falcons improve to 3-1, while Defiance falls to 3-1.
The Falcons used a 26-5 run from the 15:05 mark to the 10:15 mark in the first half to build a 35-13 advantage. The Falcons led 60-29 at halftime.
BGSU made its first 10 long-distance calls including five by junior Cory Ryan, three by senior Brandon Pardon and one each from Kris Wilson and Josh Almanson. For the game, BGSU made 12 of 16 from three point range. As a team, BGSU shot 61.7 percent, while Defiance shot 45.4 percent.
Ryan led the Falcons with 18 points, while Pardon had 16, including a perfect four-for-four day from three-point range. Senior Len Matela had 13 points and senior Keith McLeod and sophomore Kevin Netter each added 12.
All 13 players for the Falcons scored at least two points.
Defiance was led by Chris Fidler who had 16 points.
BGSU will next host Michigan on Wednesday, November 28, at 7 p.m. The game is sold out and will be televised on WUPW-TV 36 in Toledo.
