Marshall Defeats Bowling Green, 63-55

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - J.R. VanHoose tallied his eighth straight double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Marshall to a 63-55 victory over Bowling Green on Wednesday night.
Marshall (17-8, 11-6 Mid-American Conference) beat Bowling Green for the first time in six games dating to February 1998.
Marshall took the lead for good, 44-43, on a Tamar Slay 3-pointer with 9:28 remaining. Teammate Joda Burgess scored five of the game's next nine points to push the lead to 51-45 with 6:45 left.
Bowling Green (13-13, 9-8) pulled within three points on two Keith McLeod free throws with 1:42 remaining. But Slay, who finished with 15 points, sank four free throws as Marshall finished the game on an 8-0 run.
McLeod led Bowling Green with 20 points.
