SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team did not lose a set in a 7-0 victory over the University of California Riverside. The neutral-site dual match was held in San Diego, Calif., Friday (March 16).
No Falcon lost more than six games as the Brown and Orange improved to 10-5 in dual play this season. Sophomore Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo dropped just three games at the top singles flight, while junior Vitek Wild lost only four games in his win at the second level.
Other singles winners for the Falcons, in order of flights, were sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo, juniors Mike Kossoff and Ed Kuresman and senior Brandon Gabel. Kuresman did not lose a single game in improving to 12-4 this year.
All nine members of the team have won at least 12 matches this year, led by Micael Lopez-Acevedo and Wild with 18. Geoff Hiscox and Nick Moxley, neither of whom saw action in singles vs. UCR, each have 17 victories this season.
In doubles action, the Falcons' winning teams included Wild and Kuresman at the top flight, Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and Moxley at the middle level, and Gabel and sophomore Peter Gardonyi in third-flight action.
The Falcons were to remain in San Diego to conclude spring-trip play vs. nationally-ranked San Diego State University later Friday.
