Falcon Baseball Defeats Eastern Kentucky In Season Opener, 3-2

Richmond, Ky. - Coach Danny Schmitz' BGSU baseball squad was victorious in its season-opening contest at Eastern Kentucky, 3-2, Saturday at Turkey Hughes Field in Richmond, Kentucky.
Junior left fielder Len Elias singled home junior catcher Tim Newell with one out in the top of the seventh to give BGSU a 3-2 victory over Eastern Kentucky in BG's season opener. Newell had reached base on a two-base error to start the inning.
BGSU rallied from a 2-0 first inning deficit on a second inning solo blast from sophomore first baseman Kelly Hunt and a third inning RBI double by sophomore second baseman Corey Loomis which plated senior center fielder Aric Christman. Loomis led the Falcons with three hits.
The Falcon pitching staff, senior Craig Menke (4 IP, 2 H, ER, 3K), freshman Neil Schmitz (IP) and junior Brad Henry (2 IP, K) limited the Colonels to four hits and three walks. Henry captured the win in relief.
