Women's Tennis Defeats Xavier, 5-2

The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team received wins at four of the singles flights and in two doubles matches en route to a 5-2 defeat of visiting Xavier University. The non-conference match was held Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, the Falcons improve to 6-9 on the season.
BGSU got wins from three seniors at the top-three singles flights. Meghan Rhodes rebounded from a first-set loss to take the next two sets and defeat Emily Senich at the top flight.
Abby Bratton posted a three-set victory over her XU opponent at the second flight, while Erika Wasilewski dropped just three games in a straight-sets win at the third level.
BGSU's other singles win came at the sixth flight, where freshman Gaby Coello captured the second and third sets for the win.
In doubles action, the Musketeers won the top flight, but the Falcons got 8-4 victories from the team of Wasilewski and freshman Lisa Maloney at the second level as well as from Coello and frosh Jessica Johnson at the third flight.
BGSU concludes a six-match homestand with a pair of Mid-American Conference matches at Keefe Courts next weekend. The Falcons will host Northern Illinois University Friday (April 6) before taking on Western Michigan University Saturday (April 7). Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Keefe Courts.
