Bowling Green, Ohio - For the 11th time in 12 conference games, the Bowling Green State University baseball team plated 10 runs or more as they swept the second game of a doubleheader against Toledo, 22-10, at Steller Field. The Falcons enter Sunday's final game of the series with a 27-10 overall record and a 14-4 ledger in the MAC.
Senior center fielder Aric Christman had five hits and drove in four to lead a 21-hit attack for the Falcons. BGSU scored 15 runs in the first two innings to seal the win. Junior catcher David Viane had three hits and three RBI and junior left fielder Len Elias added three hits and two RBI. The Falcons had three home runs, a solo shot by Elias, a two-run blast from junior short stop Nick Elrod, and a two-run shot by senior first baseman Chad Curlis.
Freshman lefty Neil Schmitz improved to 3-1 with 5 2/3 innings of work. Junior Brad Henry pitched the final three innings to notch his second save of the year.
The Falcons will close out the four-game series tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Toledo.
