CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University softball student-athlete Jen Domschot has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced late Monday (April 30). Domschot, who shared the MAC's East Division P-O-W honor with Kent State's Marci Ridenbaugh, earns the league award for the first time in her Falcon career.
Domschot, a senior centerfielder from Toledo, hit a team-leading .476 last week, going 10-of-21 at the plate as the Falcons went 5-2. She led the Brown and Orange with 10 hits, eight runs scored and an on-base percentage of .560 in the seven games.
In MAC play last week, Domschot hit .467 (7-of-15) as BGSU went 4-1. She scored both the tying and winning runs in a 5-4, 11-inning win over Ball State (April 24). The next day, Domschot again scored the winning run in extra innings as the Falcons posted a 2-1, eight-inning victory at Ohio State.
On Saturday (April 28), Domschot had a double and a triple in the first inning alone, as BG defeated Miami by a 13-2 score in the first game of a doubleheader. In the second game that day, she broke a 3-3 tie by singling home the game-winning run in the sixth inning of an eventual 5-3 win.
On the year, Domschot is batting .356 with team-best totals of 41 runs scored, four triples (tied for team lead), 10 doubles (tied for team lead), a .606 slugging percentage, a .466 on-base pct. and a school-record 25 walks.
In MAC games only, Domschot is hitting .383 with a team-high 20 RBI, a .650 slugging pct. and a .486 OBP.
The Falcons are 31-16 overall after a pair of wins at Cleveland State Monday (April 30). BGSU will take a 16-4 MAC record into a Tuesday (May 1) home game vs. arch-rival Toledo. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the BGSU Softball Field.
