Women's Gymnastics Team Remains Undefeated In 2002

The Bowling Green Women's Gymnastics team earned its seventh win of the season Friday at Ball State. The Falcons competed against five other squads at the Cardinal Classic this weekend to remain undefeated with a perfect 7-0 overall record and a 2-0 Mid-American Conference record.
BGSU defeated teams from Ball State, Illinois-Chicago, North Carolina, Wisconsin-River Falls and Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Falcons posted a final team score of 192.700 to earn the victory. This is the first time Bowling Green has defeated Ball State since the 1987 season.
Top performers for the Falcons were senior Marny Oestreng who placed second in the vault (9.825), tied for second in the bars (9.825), placed second on the beam (9.750), tied for eighth on the floor (9.700) and placed first in the all-around (39.100). Senior Mindy Untch and freshman Kari Elste also performed well, both tied for fifth in the bars with a 9.800.
The Falcons' next meet will be Saturday, February 2 when the team competes against Rutgers and S. Connecticut in Camden, New Jersey.
