
Spikers Lose Heartbreaker To OU, 3-2

The Bowling Green Falcon Volleyball team dropped its sixth Mid-American Conference contest Friday (Oct. 11) at Anderson Arena. BG was defeated by Ohio University in a five-game thriller 28-30, 22-30, 30-26, 30-27, 6-15. The Falcons fall to 5-13 overall and are 0-6 in the MAC while OU improves to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Despite the loss, there were some bright spots for the Orange and Brown. Two members of the squad nailed double-double performances with Susie Norris slamming 21 kills and digging 17 balls and Kristin Gamby getting 24 kills and 20 digs on the night. The senior also served up four aces, a season and career-high.
This was Norris' 10th double-double performance of the season and Gamby's second.
Other Falcons putting up impressive numbers were juniors Laura Twyman and Nadia Bedricky. Twyman, a Sugar Land, Texas native dropped 14 kills on the Bobcats on 23 attempts to hit a .522. As BG's libero player, Bedricky commanded the backcourt and picked up 21 digs to tie a season and career-high. Sophomore setter Amber Mareski posted a season and career-high as well by dishing out 69 assists. Freshman Emily Manser had a good night's work in the backcourt, digging 17 balls.
Bowling Green returns home Saturday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m. to take on Marshall University.
