
Ball State Downs BGSU In Three

MUNCIE, Ind. - Host Ball State University remained undefeated in Mid-American Conference play with a three-game victory over the Bowling Green State University volleyball team Friday night (Oct. 18). The Cardinals captured the match by game scores of 30-18, 30-28, 30-19 at Worthen Arena.
With the victory, the Cards improved to 11-6 overall and 6-0 in MAC play. The Falcons dropped to 5-15 and 0-8, respectively.
Junior Susie Norris led the Brown and Orange in both kills and digs, with eight kills and 14 digs. Norris hit .250 in the match.
Freshman Emily Manser had seven kills and nine digs, finishing second on the Falcons in each category. Redshirt sophomore Bridget Protas had a match-high six blocks.
The Cardinals hit .240 to the Falcons' .112 in the match. The hosts hit a whopping .417 in the first game, but BGSU had a slightly higher hitting percentage -- .133 to BSU's .102 -- in the narrow game-two setback.
Amber Mareski had 21 set assists and seven digs for the Falcons. All 11 players on the BGSU roster saw action in the match.
Ball State got 10 kills each from freshmen Sarah Obras and Kristin Westhof and nine from senior Jenna Foster. Stephanie Keller had 16 digs and Meredith Fancher 12 for the Cardinals.
The Falcons will look to snap the current eight-match losing streak Saturday night (Oct. 19), when BGSU takes on Miami University. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at MU's Millett Hall.
