The Bowling Green women's volleyball squad improved its overall record to 7-15 and its Mid-American Conference record to 2-8 Friday (Oct. 25) night with a win over Central Michigan. The Falcons won their second consecutive match in three games, 30-22, 30-21, 30-21.
Leading the team was lone senior Kristin Gamby who posted 15 kills on 30 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. This is the 10th time this season that the senior has compiled 15 or more kills in a match. Gamby also passed a career milestone by slamming down her 900th career kill in the win over the Chips and now owns a tally of 905. Gamby is currently 11th in school history in the kills department.
Other Falcons achieving impressive numbers were juniors Laura Twyman and Susie Norris and sophomore Bridget Protas. Twyman put down eight kills for BG and two blocks and earned her 200th career block in the process. Protas also did well for the Falcons nailing seven kills and putting down 5 blocks, a match high. The redshirt from Holly, Michigan also dug 13 balls for a career high. Norris put away nine kills and dug 14 balls to lead both teams.
The Falcons will remain on the road, but not too far from Anderson Arena, as they take on rival Toledo on Wednesday, October 30, at Savage Hall. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
