BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Len Matela scored 25 points for Bowling Green as the Falcons defeated Ohio 80-64 Wednesday night.
Matela also had eight rebounds to lead both teams. Keith McLeod added 20 points and Josh Almanson 10 for the Falcons (17-5 overall, 7-4 Mid-American Conference), and Brandon Pardon had 13 assists - as many as the entire Ohio team.
Sonny Johnson came off the bench to score 25 points and Jon Sanderson, also a non-starter, had 13 for the Bobcats (12-7, 7-4). Ohio's leading scorer, Brandon Hunter, was held to nine points as he returned from a one-game suspension for an unspecified violation of team rules.
The Falcons were 14-for-22 for 63.6 percent from the field in the second half and had a 59.6 percent shooting mark for the game, while holding Ohio to 43.9 percent.
Bowling Green never trailed after taking a 20-19 lead with 9:52 left in the first half and was ahead 35-31 at halftime.
The score was tied at 41 early in the second half. The Falcons took the lead for good with a 9-0 run that made it 50-41 with 12:15 to play. McLeod had five of the nine points.
