TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought, 6-1 decision to DePaul University in Saturday (Feb. 9) action. The dual match was held at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
Junior Alyson Gabel picked up the lone win for the Falcons, who dropped to 1-5 in dual-match play this season. Gabel's victory came in straight sets at the fourth singles flight.
Sophomore Lisa Maloney, playing at the top singles flight, extended her match with Szilvia Keleman to three sets before falling. BGSU's other singles competitors in the top six flights were senior Devon Bissinger (No. 2), freshman Susan Schoenberger (No. 3), sophomore Gaby Coello (No. 5) and freshman Laura Kokinda (No. 6).
BGSU now begins a stretch which sees the team play the next 10 matches away from home. The Falcons will play at Cincinnati on March 2, and will not return home until a match vs. arch-rival Toledo on April 5.
