Falcon Golf Team 4th After First Day

Ocala, Fla. - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team is in fourth place after the first day of the Big Red Classic in Ocala, Fla. The tournament at Lake Diamond Golf Course is the 2002 season-opener for coach Garry Winger and his Falcons.
BGSU has a team score of 581 after the first two rounds, just 10 strokes behind tournament leader Lamar University (571) and followed by Michigan State (575) and Penn State (577). There are 17 teams competing in the tournament hosted by Ball State and Indiana University.
Senior Brian Gerken was tied for first place after the first and second rounds, carding a 70 and 72, for a 142 two-round score. Junior Adam Balls and freshman Craig Pickerel are tied for 15th overall with a 146 after two rounds. Freshman Austin Chase (T-28th, 150), junior Andy Miller (T-39th, 152) and senior Justin Gillham (T-54th, 154) round out BGSU's individual scores.
Final round competition takes place on Sunday in Ocala, Fla.
