Trio Of Round-Trippers Thrust Bowling Green Past Toledo In Series Opener
April 24, 2026 | Baseball
Relief Efforts From Boudreaux, Roder Halt Rocket Bats
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the second inning, the Falcons scored the first run of the game. Anthony Mitta drew a walk and Brayden Curlis was hit by a pitch to put two on for BGSU. Carter Mottice lined a single up the middle to score Mitta for an RBI.
- Later in the inning Griffin Scheiderer was hit by a pitch to load the bases, joining Curlis and Mottice, before another hit by pitch, this time by Lance Vickers, forced home Curlis for a 2-0 BG lead.
- Toledo answered in the middle innings with one in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 5-2 advantage.
- Andrew DiLodovico began the bottom of the fifth with a single up the middle. Mitta joined him on base with a fielder's choice that included an error to keep DiLodovico on. With two runners on, TJ Takats came through with a three-run no-doubter to right that went halfway up the branches of the trees beyond the wall, tying the game 5-5.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Vickers started off with a double to right center before moving up to third on a deep fly ball from Sam Seidel. DiLodivoco made it count with a two-run home run to straight away for a 7-5 BGSU lead.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Vickers again started an inning strong, this time with a single to left before taking second on a wild pitch. Seidel followed with a moonshot to right for a two-run home run and a 9-5 Bowling Green advantage, the eventual final.
