Dayton, Ohio - The Bowling Green baseball team dropped a 7-4 decision to Dayton Wednesday afternoon at Stuart Field.
UD scored one in the first and another in the second for a 2-0 lead. It added to the margin with two more runs in the fourth and a three-spot in the sixth for a 7-0 lead over the visiting Falcons.
Bowling Green (1-6 overall) got on the board in a big way in the eighth inning, plating four runs. Three of them came off a blast by first baseman Kelly Hunt, his team-leading third of the season. The other run was when Len Elias reached on an error which scored freshman Jimmy Lipari from second base.
However, that was all the Falcon offense scored in the 7-4 setback.
Sophomore Clayton Booth (0-1) took the loss despite eight different Falcons seeing time on the mound. Both teams committed two errors.
David Barkholz and Spencer Schmitz were the only Falcons with multiple hits, each finishing with two singles.
Bowling Green takes to the road for its spring trip, beginning on Saturday, March 9, with a doubleheader at Murray State at 1 p.m. EST. After a single game on Sunday, March 10, with the Racers, BGSU travels for single games at Austin Peay (March 11), Belmont (March 12), Tennessee Tech (March 14) and finishes its trip with a three-game series at Western Kentucky (March 15-17).
