Bowling Green, Ohio - In game one, freshman Tyler Saneholtz pitched all seven innings, striking out five and walking none to improve his record to a team-best 5-1. Saneholtz allowed just four hits and two runs in his best outing of his rookie campaign.
EKU had only one hit in the first two innings before Chris Grynaviski led off the third inning with a double. A ground out moved him to third and he scored via a Josh Anderson single for a 1-0 Colonels lead.
The lead held until the fifth inning. Andy Hudak led off the fifth frame with a single and was moved over to second base thanks to a sacrifice hit by Kevin Longstreth. Hudak plated BGSU's first run of the game when David Barkholz singled to left field, tying the score at 1-1. After Barkholz stole second base, his 12th of the season, Tim Newell brought him home with a single down the right-field line for a 2-1 BGSU lead.
John Myles knotted the score at 2-2 with a solo home run in the top of the sixth off of Saneholtz' only mistake of the day.
However, BGSU regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Nick Elrod hit a one-out double down the left-field line and then scored the go-ahead run when Elias doubled to center field for a 3-2 Falcon lead.
Saneholtz retired the three batters he faced in the seventh to seal the victory.
BGSU had only six hits in the game with Barkholz finishing 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Corey Loomis' 11-game hitting streak was halted, finishing 0-for-2.
