Falcons Finish 11th at Rain-Shortened Colonel Classic

Richmond, Ky. - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished 11th out of 19 teams on Saturday in a rain-shortened Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky. The scheduled 54-hole tournament was reduced to 18 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday due to heavy rains in the area.
BGSU was tied for seventh place after Friday with a score of 298 but dropped to 11th despite shooting just one stroke higher on Saturday, 299. The Falcons ended with a team score of 597, three strokes out of the top-10. EKU won the tournament with a two-round score of 566.
Redshirt-sophomore Craig Pickerel was the low scorer for the Falcons, finishing tied for 14th with a score of 145 (76-69). Sophomore Austin Chase was tied for 12th after day one (72), but dropped to a tie for 28th place on day two (76), finishing with a score of 148. Other Falcon finishers were senior Andy Miller (T-72, 153), freshman Chris Leake (T-72, 153) and freshman Bud Ziglar (T-79, 154).
BGSU ends its Fall schedule in two weeks when the team travels to Cincinnati for the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 14-15).
