Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green held a shot advantage in each of the three periods, but dropped a non-conference contest to visiting Union College on Friday night, 3-1, at the BGSU Ice Arena.
The Dutchmen struck first at 11:40 of the first period off of Scott Seney's fifth goal of the season. UC added to its lead just 28 seconds into the second period on a power-play goal by Ian Rose and Seney added his second goal of the game at 5:30 of the second for a 3-0 advantage. The two goals by Union in the second period came off of just five shots in the period.
BGSU's Brett Pilkington broke the home team into the scoring column at 3:22 of the third period with assists coming from Brian Escobedo and Mark Wires. It was Pilkington's first goal of the season and snapped a five-period scoreless drought for the Falcons.
Union's Kris Mayotte recorded 30 saves in the game for the win while BGSU's Jordan Sigalet had 20 saves in 58:51 minutes of action. The Dutchmen were 1-for-5 on the power play and BGSU was 0-for-6 with the man advantage. BGSU held a 31-23 shot advantage in the game.
Union improves to 4-0 while BGSU drops to 1-4 on the season. The two teams match up again on Saturday with a 8:05 p.m. face-off, a change from the 7:05 p.m. face-off originally scheduled.
