Falcons Fall To Buffalo In MAC Opener, 82-64

AMHERST N.Y. (AP) - Turner Battle scored 17 points to lead Buffalo to an 82-64 win over Bowling Green Wednesday night.
Daniel Gilbert and Jason Bird each scored 14 points for the Bulls (1-3, 1-0 Mid-American Conference), while Mario Jordan and Roderick Middleton had 12 apiece.
Buffalo took command of the game with an early 20-1 run early highlighted by two 3-pointers from Bird. Battle and Middleton also hit 3-pointers during the run that saw Bowling Green held without a field goal for 4:31. The Bulls, who led 24-10 when the run closed with 12:41 left in the first half, never trailed the rest of the way.
Bowling Green (2-2, 0-1) closed to within 46-40 with 13:49 to play after a quick 7-0 run ignited by a 3-pointer from Austin Montgomery. The Falcons, however, came no closer as Buffalo went 28-32 from the free throw line in the second half. Buffalo came into the game ranked last in the MAC in free-throw shooting.
Montgomery led Bowling Green with 20 points. Ronald Lewis had 14 and Kevin Netter scored 10.
Bowling Green committed 22 turnovers.
