Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team established a new season-high with a victory over Ball State, 193.800-188.675. The Falcons previous high was a 192.850, victory over Western Michigan on January 12. Bowling Green was led by Freshman, Jessica Guyer (pictured) who posted two first-place finishes and a second-place finish.
On the vault the Falcons claimed the top six scores in the event. Ann Marie Kassouf and Jessica Guyer led the way, each posting a 9.775 Kathy Emerson rounded out the top three with a 9.750.
On the bars, the Falcons were lead by junior Melissa Popovich and senior Ann Marie Kassouf. Popovich scored a 9.775 to place first in the event, while teammate Kassouf placed second with a score of 9.750.
Pia Sjovall led the brown & orange on the beam with a score of 9.750, placing first in the event. Kassouf and Guyer both posted a 9.725 on the beam to claim the top three spots.
Like the vault, the Falcons claimed the top six spots on the floor exercise. Guyer led the way by scoring a 9.925, tying her career-high in the event. Popovich and Sjovall rounded out the top three, both posting a 9.875.
Kassouf established a new season-high in the all-around with a 39.050, capturing first place in the event. Popovich finished second with a score of 38.300.
Up next the Falcons will play host to Pittsburgh and Wilson College on Sunday, March 2. The meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
