
Falcon Swimmers Defeat Marshall, Fall to Akron

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green split a pair of dual meets on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Pool, defeating Marshall (208 - 90) while dropping a decision to Akron (160 - 140). The win over Marshall gave the Falcons their first Mid-American Conference dual meet victory of the year.
"We swam really well," said BGSU coach Keri Buff. "It was just a great effort by everyone. Because of this meet we have some momentum heading into the MAC meet, which is at our home pool and our swimmers are excited about."
Junior co-captain Sarah Agnew captured two events, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:07.62) and the 200 breaststroke (2:24.25), while turning in a runner-up performance in the 200 IM (2:15.31).
Freshman Dana Schultz was the other Falcon victorious in her event, winning the 200 butterfly in 2:08.55. She also finished runner-up in the 100 butterfly (58.80) and was a member of the anchor of the winning 200 free relay (1:39.00). The 200 relay win was the first of the season for the Falcons.
Senior Kelley O'Hara had two second-place finishes in both the 200 free (1:54.91) and the 500 free (5:09.39). Her time in the 200 free was a new season-best and was just off her career-best (1:54.27).
Sophomore Erin Dilkes was also second in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.00) and the 200 breaststroke (2:26.53).
Freshman Stephanie Buckner finished second in both the 50 free (24.70) and the 100 free (53.90), while classmate Kara Ohngren finished second in the 1,650 free (7:47.21) and finished third in the 200 IM (2:15.50).
BGSU finishes the regular season 6-10 overall and 1-7 in MAC dual meets. The Falcons host the 2003 MAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 27 - March 1, at Cooper Pool.
