2003 Cross Country Schedule Announced

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics has announced the 2003 men's and women's cross country schedules. The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells are slated to compete in seven races prior to the Mid-American Conference Championship on Nov. 1.
Highlighting the schedule are a pair of home meets. The Falcons will host arch-rival Toledo in a dual meet on Friday, Sept. 5, with the women's race scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start and the men's race set to begin at 5:45 p.m.
The following weekend, the Falcon men's and women's squads will host the Mel Brodt Invitational. That meet, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, includes a men's race at 1:15 p.m. and the women's race at 2:00 p.m. The 2003 meet will mark the 17th annual Mel Brodt Invite.
The Falcons will open the season with an August 30 trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the EMU Open, hosted by Eastern Michigan. Following the two home meets, the Falcons will compete in the Toledo Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20.
BGSU also will participate in the Central Collegiates (Sept. 26 in Kalamazoo, Mich.), Auburn Invitational (Oct. 10) and the Illini Challenge (Oct. 18) before heading to Akron, Ohio, for the MAC meet. The conference races will be hosted by the University of Akron.
The Great Lakes Regional races are scheduled for Nov. 15 in Terre Haute, Ind., with the NCAA Championships slated for Nov. 24 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The 2002 men's cross country team finished 11th at the MAC Championship and 28th in the regional meet, while the women were ninth at the league race and 18th at the regionals.
