CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has authorized the release of the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2002-03 academic year, and Bowling Green State University men's golf student-athlete Craig Pickerel was among those honored. The BGSU athletic department had a total of 122 student-athletes selected.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
Pickerel, who was named to the Academic All-MAC Team in May, was named the BGSU Junior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the spring. He had a 4.00 GPA in the fall, 2002, semester.
On the course, Pickerel finished the 2002-03 campaign with a 74.896 average, tops among Falcons who played all 29 rounds. A redshirt sophomore in terms of eligibility in '02-03, he also established a new school-record score of 208 for 54 holes at the Xavier Invitational, finishing third overall. Pickerel finished 38th at the 2003 MAC Championships.
The cumulative GPA figure below is through the fall, 2002, semester, as the nominations were made before the conclusion of the spring, 2003, semester.
