The Bowling Green men's golf team finished eighth at the Northern Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Michigan at the U-M Golf Course. The Falcons finished with a 54-hole team score of 890, four shots away from a fourth place.
Xavier captured the team championship with a score of 853 while Indiana's Jeff Overton captured the individual title with a three-round score of 207.
BGSU's Adam Balls finished tied for seventh place by carding a 214 in three rounds (74-67-73). Balls' 67 in the second round on Saturday was a career-low and tied a weekend low held by several other golfers in the tournament. It was four shots off BGSU's school record for 18 holes held by Brett Fulford (63, 1992). His score of 214 was also a personal-best for 54 holes.
Other Falcons placing for coach Garry Winger were Tommy Lopez (T-33rd, 224), Chris Leake (T-47th, 226), Craig Pickerel (T-65th, 229), and Heath Ziglar (84th, 236).
The Falcons return to action next weekend when they travel to Bloomington, Ind., for the inaugural Hoosier Invitational, hosted by Indiana University. The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, at the IU Golf Course.
