
Falcons Get 76-69 Win Over N. Illinois

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Kevin Netter scored eight of his 19 points during a key 14-4 run in the second half to lead Bowling Green to a 76-69 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday.
Ron Lewis also scored 19 points and John Reimold added 14 for the Falcons (6-8, 2-2 Mid-American Conference).
After Marcus Smallwood scored on a layup with 18:22 left to cut Bowling Green's lead to 35-33, Lewis hit two free throws to start the run followed by four baskets in a row by Netter. Reimold capped the run with a 3-pointer with 13:21 left.
The Huskies (6-8, 1-3) could get no closer than 10 until Anthony Maestranzi hit a 3-pointer with 50 seconds for three of his 14 points that cut Bowling Green's lead to 73-65.
The Huskies made 23 baskets to 21 for Bowling Green, but were outscored 27-17 at the foul line.
Smallwood led Northern Illinois with 22 points and seven rebounds. Perry Smith had 13 points.
Josh Almanso scored 12 points for Bowing Green.
