Falcons Fall To Southeast

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri - Despite another dominating performance by senior co-captain Melissa Popovich, the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team dropped a 194.175-191.425 decision at the hands of Southeast Missouri State. The Falcons fall to 1-1 overall, while the Otahkians improve to 2-0 on the early season.
For the second consecutive week Popovich established a new career-high and second-best BGSU all-around score in school history. This week posting a 39.275 after posting a 39.225 in the all-around last weekend in the win over Eastern Michigan. She posted a 9.900 on the uneven bars, the second-best mark in BGSU history, 9.850 (floor), 9.775 (beam) and 9.750 (vault).
Junior Kristen DiPietro posted solid numbers en route to a 37.125 in the all-around, helped mostly by a 9.800 on floor and 9.675 on vault.
Co-captain Pia Sjovall recorded a 9.775 on the floor, as well as a 9.675 on beam.
The Falcons will return to action a week from Saturday when they will play host to North Carolina on January 31. The meet is set for 7:00 p.m.
