Akron, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team was defeated Saturday by the University of Akron Zips 183-117. Sophomore Kara Ohngren led the Falcons with a first-place in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:26.94) and a second-place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.53).
Freshman Brit O'Connor finished first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.67. She swam the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.02, earning her third-place.
With a time of 5:07.65 freshman Caroline Keating won the 500-yard freestyle. Keating also contributed with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (54.43).
The Falcons return to action Feb. 11 at the U.S. Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
