Falcons Fall At West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team fell to West Virginia Saturday night 197.300-193.375 inside the WVU Coliseum to conclude their 2004 regular season. Senior Pia Sjovall recorded a 9.8 on beam and 9.85 on floor to lead the Falcons.
On vault Melissa Popovich led all Falcons with a 9.875 to place third. Kristin DiPietro (9.65) and Marie-Eve Boisvert (9.625) placed eighth and ninth overall as well.
The top finisher for the Brown & Orange on bars was Kari Elste, who placed fifth with a 9.775. She was followed by Boisvert (9.75) and freshman Sakura Tomita (9.65).
With a 9.8 Jillian Stranges, Sjovall and Breanne Metzger paced the Falcons on the balance beam to place fifth. DiPietro placed eighth with a 9.75.
Popovich posted a 9.925 on the floor, finishing third overall and the top BGSU performance. DiPietro posted a 9.875 to place fifth.
Up next for BGSU is a trip to Central Michigan for the MAC Championships on March 19. The meet is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
