BGSU Men's Golf Finishes 6th at MAC Championship

Westerville, Ohio - The Bowling Green men's golf team finished sixth at the 2004 Mid-American Conference Championships at Medallion Club in Westerville, Ohio on Saturday. BGSU ended with a team score of 900 (297-310-293) after carding a third-round score of 293 on Saturday afternoon. The tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to poor weather on Friday.
Senior Adam Balls finished his BGSU career by finishing tied for 14th place with a three-round score of 221 (72-75-74). He shot a 74 on Saturday and at the conclusion of the championship was named the 2004 MAC Sportsman of the Year. He becomes just the fourth Falcon to ever be named the Sportsman of the Year, including Dan Connelly (1984), current head coach Garry Winger (1994), and Justin Gillham (2002).
The sixth-place finish is two spots better for the Falcons from the previous two seasons.
Junior Craig Pickerel finished tied for 19th place after carding a 75 on Saturday to finish with a three-round score of 225 (71-79-75). Sophomore Dan McIntyre (76-79-72) and sophomore Adam Cordes (78-77-72) each finished tied for 25th place by carding a three-round score of 227. Each shot a team-best 72 on Saturday. Sophomore Heath Ziglar finished tied for 46th with a score of 237 (82-80-75).
Toledo captured the team title with a team score of 867. UT's Brad Heaven won the individual medalist wit ha score of 214.
