Falcons Begin MAC Season With 95-88 Win

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Josh Almanson scored 26 points, including 11-of-13 field-goal shooting, to lead Bowling Green to a 95-88 win over Buffalo on Sunday.
The game was tight, with 11 ties, until Almanson's layup with 5:42 left made it 73-72 and put the Falcons (7-2, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) up for good.
A 3-pointer by Calvin Cage, who went 4-of-10 from 3-point range, brought the Bulls (7-2, 0-2) within 86-83 with 58 seconds left.
But the Falcons closed it out making nine consecutive free throws, including five straight by Steven Wright, who made 8 of 11 foul shots.
Wright finished with 20 points, John Floyd's 19 points included 5-for-5 free throw shooting, and John Reimold had 15 points.
Cage led Buffalo with 23 points. Roderick Middleton and Turner Battle each had 14 points and Yassin Idbihi added 11 points and nine rebounds.
