Falcons Come Up Short Versus Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Michigan - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team fell 193.900-191.875 Saturday afternoon to the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Senior Kristin DiPietro led the Falcons with a third-place finish in the all-around with a score of 38.475.
Bowling Green (1-3, 1-2 MAC) had their best performance of the young season on vault with a team score of 48.200. Junior Jessica Guyer led all competitors on the vault with a 9.775, while freshman Jayme Stambaugh finished fourth with a 9.700.
The Falcons also had their top performance of the year on beam, posting a mark of 48.525 as a team, almost a full point better then their previous best 47.875 which they set in a win over Ball State in mid-January. Freshman Candice Deacon, making her collegiate debut, finished in a tie for first with a score of 9.750. Guyer and DiPietro weren't far behind, finishing in a three-way tie for third with a 9.725.
On the uneven bars, junior Jessica Bradley led the brown and orange. Her 9.675 placed her second overall. Metzger (9.575) and sophomore Sakura Tomita (9.550) rounded out the top three for the Falcons.
Jessica Guyer and junior Erin McCollam were the top Falcon performers on the floor exercise, posting marks of 9.675. DiPietro (9.650) and Deacon (9.600) also had solid floor routines.
The Falcons will welcome Kent State to the Eppler Center on Feb. 4 for their next meet. The showdown is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
