Spartans Double Up Falcons, 6-3, in East Lansing

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State scored three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat visiting Bowling Green on Saturday night in East Lansing, Mich., 6-3. Eight of the nine goals scored between the two teams were power-play goals, including five by the Spartans.
BGSU got the scoring going with a PPG at 12:54 of the first period, his fifth netter of the season. Colton Fretter (14:14) and Jim McKenzie (18:36) gave MSU a 2-1 lead at the first intermission. BGSU responded with two goals in the second period to stake a 3-2 lead. Ryan Minnabarriet scored a PPG at 6:26 and Alex Foster scored a power-play tally at 12:27. MSU's Drew Miller scored his first of two goals on the night at 18:19 of the second period to knot the game at 3-3 heading to the third period.
Miller scored the game's only even-strength goal at 5:17 of the third period, which proved to be the game-winner. The Falcons couldn't notch the game-tying goal while MSU scored at 18:33 (Ethan Graham) and an empty-net goal at 19:20 (Bryan Lerg).
BGSU held a slim 37-36 shot advantage, including 17-10 in the third period. BGSU's Jordan Sigalet stopped 30 of 35 shots faced and allowed just the one even-strength goal. Dominic Vicario stopped 34 of 37 shots faced for MSU.
BGSU was 3-for-3 on the power play while MSU was 5-for-11.
The Falcons fall to 16-12-4 overall and 13-10-3 in the CCHA. With Nebraska-Omaha's victory on Saturday, BGSU also falls back to fifth place, one point behind the Mavericks with two regular-season games remaining. The Falcons will host CCHA-leading Michigan on Friday, March 4, for "Senior Night". BGSU then travels to Ann Arbor on Saturday, March 5, for the season finale.
