BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Not even a two-hour run delay could slow down the Falcon baseball team, downing the Eastern Michigan Eagles 12-4 Saturday afternoon at Warren Steller Field. The win improves the Falcons to 11-2 on the year.
The Falcon bats did not take long to get heated up, posting three runs in the opening inning following a leadoff double for Eric Lawson and coming home after an Andy Hudak groundout. With a runner on, Josh Stewart hit a towering two-run homerun to straight away centerfield to give the Falcons an early 3-0 advantage.
BGSU (11-2) plated four more runs in the bottom of the fourth with the help of three Eastern Michigan walks and two BG hits. With one out Lawson drew a walk and came around to score on a Jeff Warnock double. Nolan Reimold drew a walk and Hudak reached on an infield single. With the bases full, Steve Raszka doubled to right field that brought home three Falcons.
The game was called in due to darkness during the bottom of the seventh inning.
Alan Brech pitched five strong innings to get the win, and improves to 2-1 on the year. Nick Cantrell pitched the final two innings recording four strickouts in the performance.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. as they complete the three game series with EMU at Warren Steller Field.
